National Country Cooking Month

by Anne Middleton, on June 9th, 2015

Fried okra, cornbread, homemade ice cream—what’s country cooking to you?  June is National Country Cooking Month, a month dedicated to homespun, down-to-earth, nostalgic cooking.  No deconstructed, dainty dishes here.  We’ve got some suggestions on how to celebrate.

Grit Magazine may be the down-to-earth authority on country living and it’s available on the Apple app store.  Grit will not only give you a recipe or two, it’ll help you with helpful “Little House on the Prairie”-like topics such as “Old-Time Harvest Preservation on the Farm”.  You can’t get more country than that.  Though old fashioned in outlook, you’ll need a newfangled device to check it out, so we suggest checking out Verizon, who offers $50 off and free shipping using our codes.

Country Living has a great DIY focus that also extends to your culinary exploits.  Probably the best known of the US magazines focusing on rustic charms, Country Living is available in Apple Newstand.  If you love family-style, down-home meals, Country Living is a go-to magazine for great country cooking ideas. T-Mobile has great service, in-city or out in the boonies.  Get free shipping on your order when you use our codes!

You don’t have to sport overalls to love country cooking.  Even if you grew up in the country and then moved to the bright, big city, keep in touch with your roots this month and enjoy some country comfort food.  You may not be able to churn butter on your own, but we’ve certainly churned up some savings for you so use those codes and fix yourself a good country-style supper.
