Nothing Like A Jeep

by Anne Middleton, on June 10th, 2015

Nothing may be more patriotic than driving a Jeep.  The original Jeep went into production in 1941 specifically for the military, arguably making them the oldest SUVs.   The Jeep became the primary light 4-wheel-drive vehicle of the United States Army and the Allies during WWII.  But what about the funny name?  A dictionary of military slang, published in 1942, in the library at The Pentagon gives this definition:

Jeep: A four-wheel drive vehicle of one-half- to one-and-one-half-ton capacity for reconnaissance or other army duty.

Jeeps are special vehicles and need special accessories, so if you’re the proud owner of a Jeep or are soon-to-be one, here’s a shopping guide.

Jeeps are built to last a long time under difficult conditions.  If you are a mechanic we can’t recommend enough the Haynes Repair Guide for Jeep Wrangler ’87-’03.  It will keep your Jeep running, whether fighting a war of attrition or just trying to save up on a new Jeep in the interim.  With 25% off your order using an Advance Auto Parts coupon, you can afford accessories for your Jeep too.

Some cars, it seems, could be a little bit like a rolling living room, like a minivan, but not your Jeep.  Invest in a rugged seat back organizer to keep your stuff organized for your next adventure.  Auto Parts Warehouse will make it worth your while, with 5% off any order.

Jeeps are right up there with apple pie, fireworks and baseball when it comes to all things quintessentially American.  We all work hard for what we have and with just a little extra care we can keep our Jeeps running for a long time.  Use our codes and you won’t break a sweat when it comes to maintaining your Jeep, old or new.
