There’s an App for That!

by Anne Middleton, on April 1st, 2015

Overwhelming.  That’s how your shopping adventure for a fresh, new Smartphone began as the sun rose in the western sky.

Thank heavens for the experts at T-Mobile.  They hung onto your every word as you rattled off the multitude of features you required.  Their knowledge assisted you in selecting the precise cell phone for your everyday life.

You are now all set for the ultimate mobile phone experience!

The next objective is to download unique apps to dazzle your buddies and show them you are a leader in the technology communication arena.

As you log on to the purchase a few applications, you are stunned by the unusual, weird, useless, nonsensical and irrelevant apps that are currently being sold… Who buys these things?

1. The “Blower” App
Your Smartphone can take photos, videos, talk to you and process just about task. And now it can even assist you in the annual ritual that occurs during the celebration of your birth.

Using the speaker opening on your iPhone as a makeshift fan, the Blower app turns your iPhone into a gentle wave of air.

No more worries about blowing out your birthday candles (after all, there are so many on the cake these days!)  And no more burnt fingers…you can use your iPhone to blow out the match.

Heck, it might even work to blow bubbles to keep your kid entertained. Our favorite idea is to use the app to play that fun table football game where the “ball” is a triangle made out of paper and you and your opponent blow it back and forth until it just barely hangs of the edge of the surface. This game from our youth often requires expending considerable energy, so it is delightful to know there is an app for that! Available at: http://www.blowerapp.com/

2. Ghost Rader App
Do your friends tease you about your belief in spirits and haunted rooms?  Don’t worry…an app to prove there are genuinely life-forces not of this world has been created.

Ghost Radar is designed to detect paranormal activity. Ghost Radar’s developers believe their app is superior to any traditional ghost busting equipment.  Their technology sets itself apart by analyzing the readings and giving indications only when interesting patterns have been made.

Yeah, we don’t understand it either.  But if it finds a friendly ghost, it might be entertaining.

3. Strange Sounds App
Remember when you were a kid and you and your friends would make awful noises with your mouth and other body parts?

You guessed it.  Now there is an app for that.

Strange Sounds is an app that promises your phone will be more annoying than you could possibly imagine by offering a selection of horrible alarms and irritating alien noises.

We are not sure why anyone would desire to downloads this app, but it might be enjoyable to aggravate your relatives over the holidays.  For example, when you are opening Aunt Martha ‘s gift of another handmade Christmas scarf, the reverberations from this app might distract everyone and you can toss that knitted shawl out the window while she’s not looking Available at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blackbeltstudio.strangesounds

4. Bubble Snap Maker
How much fun is it to pop bubble wrap?  Everyone from 2 to 102 loves creating this irritating sound.  This useless activity seems to relieve stress and put a smile on people’s faces.

Nowadays, you can pop bubble wrap without the mess with this silly, yet engaging app.

This impractical app even tracks of the amount of bubbles popped.  Best of all, you’ll never run out of these clear, air-filled nuggets….fresh sheets appear once you've completed a screen's worth. Available at: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bubble-snap/id285646135?mt=8

5. iNap@Work App
Today’s world is a hectic, fast-paced, chaotic environment.  There never seems to be enough time to get some shut eye.

So a couple of brilliant individuals invented an app to get out of working and catch a few “zzzzzzs.”

This innovative download emits random common office sounds to let everyone around your cubicle realize just how hard you’re working. You can even preset certain sounds such as clicking, typing, crumpling paper, keyboard typing, stapling and even “human sounds” like coughing or sniffling.

So relax, and give yourself a much-needed snooze any time of the day.  After all, you are actually helping the company.  Medical experts agree that the best way to fight overwhelming fatigue can be a series of short “power naps” throughout the day.  Available at: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/inap-work/id310546791?mt=8
