Anne Middleton
October 27th, 2014

You walk over to the mirror and you are stunned.  Who is that older reflection staring at you?   Admit it. You’ve reached that age where you recognize every song on the “oldie” radio station. You have no idea what a Blue Ray is (maybe some type of fish)? And you refer to music as "albums" and "tapes."  How the heck did the time pass so quickly?   Time to rejuvenate your outlook on life.  So why not jazz up the look of your car?! Abbey O'Bryan
October 14th, 2014

I’m turning over a new leaf! Every year as the holidays approach and the temperatures drop, my determination to workout and eat right tends to drop, too.  I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s leftover childhood giddiness in anticipation of all the chaotic celebrations with family and friends. Or maybe it’s the anticipation of irresistible aromas of turkey and homemade pie. Whatever it is, it ain’t happenin’ again this year!   And to make sure it doesn’t, I’m treating myself to a new fall workout wardrobe.  Nothing motivates me to get my butt in gear like a sweet new pair of shoes and matching outfit.

Bugs, dirt, no cell service... these are situations you typically attempt to circumvent as a rule in your life. July 16th, 2014

If you’re a parent, you know how scary it can be to imagine all of the explicit content your kids can see on the internet.  We’re kidding ourselves if we think we can “keep an eye” on their surfing.  I don’t care if you handcuff yourself to your kid, it’s impossible to monitor their every click...or is it? Thanks to McAfee Family Protection (and much to every teenager’s chagrin), parents can now block websites, read instant messages and be notified when their child even tries to access a blocked site.

Mother's Day Deals from Verizon

Abbey O'Bryan
May 8th, 2014

This Mother’s Day will officially be my second Mother’s Day. My son is just over a year old now and the last year has been...well, let’s say, interesting. To quote Dickens, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”  Intellectually, I’ve always known what my mom did for me: she birthed me, she diapered me, she fed me, she kept me safe, she taught me stuff, etc.  In reality, though, I had NO IDEA what she did to get me to adulthood alive.  She deserves a trophy!  A monument built in her image!  At the very least, a great mother’s day gift! My mom isn’t like a lot of women her age.

Save Up To $500 Each Year on Textbooks!

Anne Middleton
March 24th, 2014

Let’s face it. College can be insanely expensive. According to the Washington Post, in 2010 the estimated costs for textbooks ranged from $700 to $1,000 annually!   And if you are a number-cruncher or studying medicine, the enormous textbooks used in math, biology and science classes are even more expensive than those novels needed for English classes.   Sure, you can search online stores for a used copy of your textbooks and even check Facebook for a good bargain. But as college students, we know the demands of classes, studying, exams and maybe even a pizza party, free time is just not something we have.
